Pluses, Potentials, Concerns, and Overcoming Concerns (PPCo)
PPCo is a four step process to evaluate an idea, a problem, or a solution to a problem. To start, list the pluses, followed by the potentials. Then, list the concerns and how to overcome the concerns. Below is a video that describes how to work through each step of the process of PPCo. It is an older video, so the 'o' had not been added yet, but the video does discuss why it is important to overcome the concerns.
I can see using a PPCo in the classroom with students as a reflection tool of their learning goal based on their report or their assessment. It allows them to look at the good things they have done, how they can be better, and address any concerns they may have. Best of all, it lets the students identify how they can over come those concerns.
My husband and I are looking at buying a lake property close to where our families live. After we visited a few of the sites for sale, we completed a PPCo on whether or not we should even consider buying any piece of property. After some analyzing if we could realistically overcome the concerns, we went for the property and have settled on a hammock for now!
